The Lord Mackenzie of Franwellgate OBE on "From Police to Politics"

This is a special dinner in the glorious splendour of the House of Lords and has been made possible through the kind auspices of the Lord Mackenzie of Framwellgate OBE. Born in Darlington and educated in Easbourne , Lord Mackenzie studied Law at the University of London after joining the police. Rising through the ranks of the police service, he became Superintendant in the Durham Constabulary. A graduate of the FBI Acdemy at Qantico, Virginia, he was active in the Police Superintendents' Association and was its President for three years. Lord Mackenzie was also a Special Adviser to Jack Strw from 1997 to 2001. He was raised to Peerage in 1998. In the House of Lords he has been most active in speaking on issues on crime and policing.
